Family Respite Social Worker
Location: New York City (All Five Boroughs)
Organization: The New York Foundling
Position OverviewThe Social Worker provides trauma‐informed, family‐centered support to strengthen parent-child relationships and promote healthy youth development through respite services. This includes delivering evidence‐based interventions and conducting in‐home sessions across all five boroughs to help families build protective factors and achieve lasting stability.
Key Responsibilities- Lead family‐centered service planning
:
Develop individualized treatment plans and conduct referral assessments in collaboration with families and interdisciplinary staff. - Deliver GenPMTO and best practice interventions
:
Facilitate training and implement evidence‐based strategies to strengthen parenting skills and family functioning. - Conduct in‐home sessions
:
Provide home visits and direct support to families and youth across NYC. - Coordinate crisis prevention and stabilization
:
Respond to family crises with safety planning and emergency support. - Engage youth and support transitions
:
Address behavioral challenges and plan transitions from respite homes to origin homes. - Connect families to community resources
:
Link families to mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, and other supports. - Maintain documentation and track outcomes
:
Complete required documentation in CNNX, Evolv, and Promis databases. - Participate in training and administrative support
:
Engage in ongoing professional development and program improvement.
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Psychology, or related field (U.S. accredited or credential evaluation required).
- 2+ years of experience working with at‐risk children and families in child welfare.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development and crisis intervention.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
- Strong communication skills and openness to reflective practice.
- Flexibility for evening/weekend support; 24/7 on‐call program.
- Driver’s license preferred but not required.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
- Base Salary: $63,430.49 annually
- Additives:
- $3,500 Bilingual
- $1,000 Provisional Licensure
- $4,000 Full Licensure
