Location: New York
Overview
FATHERHOOD TRAINING SPECIALIST - YAWP at SCO Family of Services. Reports to Senior Program Coordinator. 35-Hour work week;
Evening schedule (11 am to 7 pm).
- Facilitate group sessions at a secure detention facility 5 days a week.
- Assist in recruitment efforts for program participation.
- Facilitate workshops and instruction of Pro Fathering
15 curriculum and related activities to pre-release participants on Riker’s Island (Department of Correction). - Research and curate relevant and up-to-date materials for sessions as needed.
- Provide a minimum of two (2) support groups per week, including input and assistance from Peer Mentors.
- Maintain accurate documentation and a database of sessions and participant attendance.
- Enter attendance and session data into the DOC system.
- Collaborate with the Family Development Coach, Young Adult Workforce program leadership, and other related personnel to provide comprehensive services.
- Ensure program integrity by communicating with Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD) and the Department of Corrections (DOC) on jail and community-based program progress.

- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent;
Associate’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Criminal Justice or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred. - Strong knowledge of community resources and challenges facing formerly incarcerated individuals.
- Ability to obtain Department of Corrections clearance and work within facility guidelines, including lockdowns and personal screenings (subject to DOC discretion).
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Good verbal and written communication skills; bilingual a plus.
- Flexibility and dependability.
- Good organizational and time-management skills; ability to work independently and under pressure.
- High levels of drive, determination, and commitment.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work with a wide range of people.
- Ability to take initiative and deliver excellence and creativity in your work.
- Ability to handle complex issues and communicate them to management and staff.
