Director of Legal Services Pay Range: $26.92 - $ 26.92 per hour (effectively $49,000 - $49,000 per year) FLSA Status:

Summary:

The Intake Specialist, Legalwill perform specific intake procedures toidentifybarriers that will impede the structure developed towards guiding clients in becoming self-sufficient.

Intake specialist shave tobe able to understand what a client needs when coming to them in crisis or in a less than optimum state.

The specialist will be responsible for finding solutions for a myriad of issues as necessary.

Compassion and patience are assets in thisfield,and communication skills are imperative. Organization is also crucial as case records must bemaintainedaccurately and efficiently. In addition, staffisencouraged to becrossedtrainedandunderstandjob functions within their designated units.

Job Responsibilities /Duties:
  • Provide direct services to new clients including intake, engagement, assessment, referral, advocacy, counseling, exit summaries and follow-up.
  • Document all interactions with, or on behalf of, clients.
  • Maintain familiarity with program resources available on- and off-site.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and in-servicetrainings.
  • Maintain current andaccuratedocumentation, progress notes, and data tools both physically and electronically.
  • Maintain Confidentiality.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Time management and prioritization.
  • Interacting with other departmental staff.
  • Perform general clerical duties.
  • Develop andmaintaingood communication with other programs and units within the organization tofacilitateinter-agency referrals.
  • Provide coverage for other areas as directed/needed.
  • Performadditionalduties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, and bend over.
  • Ability to lift, reach, and handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to travel to different locations within New York City, as needed.
  • While standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, employees may be required to work on or during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalent Diploma.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish language fluency is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication, timemanagementand organizational skills are necessary.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English for administrative purposes.
  • Must pass drug screening to be appointed.
  • This position may besubject to a series of investigations beforeand after appointment.
