As a Recovery Support Specialist at Phoenix House, you will participate and facilitate shift change, provide Criss intervention counseling, conduct group intake, ensure that clients adhere to the day‑to‑day program schedule, track attendance, and monitor participation in program events and activities.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that patients adhere to the day‑to‑day program schedule, tracking attendance as required.
  • Monitor participation in program events and activities.
  • Conduct and document appropriately room/bed checks (minimally every thirty minutes) to ensure resident safety and presence.
  • Conduct routine facility checks to ensure facility safety and security.
  • Review client property/items upon admission or receipt to ensure compliance with facility and program rules.
  • Conduct contraband searches and drug screen analysis administration in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Assume lead duties for shift(s) as assigned, which includes ensuring that the program schedule is followed, all duties are assigned and completed by team during the shift, and critical incidents are reported to the Manager on Call and appropriately documented.
  • Mentor patients towards success in program including but not limited to behavior modification, program rules, schoolwork, job responsibilities and appropriate social interactions with peers, family and staff.
  • Provide safe, timely, and supervised transportation of patients to off‑site appointments or activities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in staff log, incident reports, facility forms, and/or other reports in a timely manner in accordance with policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Assist with filing and data‑entry.

Full Time‑non‑exempt

Salary range $17.78 - $26.68

Shuttle services are provided for staff, pick up and drop off to and from the train stations in Long Island City, making the commute easier and more convenient.

Shuttle service for staff operates during the following hours:

  • Morning: 6:30AM – 10:00AM
  • Evening: 4:30PM – 8:00PM
Qualifications
  • Required

    Education:

    High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Licenses &

    Certifications:

    Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee (CASAC‑T) in good standing.
  • Required Experience:
    • Minimum two years’ experience working in a substance use disorder treatment setting, including working with patients with co‑occurring disorders.
    • Trained to dispense medications to clients in case of emergency.
