Position: CCE of Ontario County TEMPORARY 4H Summer Assistant – Canandaigua, NY
Location: New York

Job Title

Association Temporary Program – No Grade, Hourly Pay

Position Details

Temporary, part‑time (15 hours/week), non‑exempt. Pay: $16 per hour. Eligible for benefits listed below.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 6 months volunteer or work experience with youth participants of all ages
  • Dependable, flexible, organized, and a team player
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
  • Ability to carry supplies and equipment, climb stairs, and navigate natural environments (with or without reasonable accommodation)
  • Commitment to working with diverse audiences in Ontario County
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some college experience preferred
Responsibilities
  • Program Delivery – 80%
    • Assist 4‑H staff in daily program activities, including educational programming (STEM/STEAM, Animal Science, Life Skills, etc.)
    • Immediately report emergency situations to 4‑H Program Leader
    • Assist with all activities related to the Ontario County Fair: cleaning, preparing the 4‑H building for exhibits, recordkeeping at animal shows, interacting with the public, supporting volunteers, fair data input, and helping with judging day
    • Assist 4‑H staff with various program events
    • Be a positive role model to youth participants
    • Frequently travel to deliver programs using approved curriculum at various locations
  • Administrative Responsibilities – 15%
    • Assist supervisor with 4‑H program participant and volunteer recruitment
    • Collaborate in activities that support Cornell Cooperative Extension
  • Professional Improvement – 5%
    • In cooperation with supervisor and/or Executive Director, develop and pursue a professional development plan
  • Health and Safety
    • Support a safe working environment and follow all applicable regulations and policies
  • Policy
    • Represent Cornell Cooperative Extension professionally to the public and stakeholders
    • Adhere to established policies and procedures
    • Perform all duties professionally, timely, and accurately
    • Act in a professional customer service manner
