Opportunity

Greenwich House is seeking a dynamic youth counselor to provide individual counseling to children and teenagers in collaboration with their parents or guardians as well as on-site partners to create a safe and supportive atmosphere as they navigate challenges related to exposure to Domestic Violence. Additionally, you will provide support for planning and conducting youth activity services and events for children and families.

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced youth counselor, Bilingual Spanish preferred to, serve children at the Family Justice Center through mentorship and finding resources they may need. The youth counselor is responsible for helping children gain access to the services they need while allowing them to feel safe and supported.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a caseload of 15-20 clients and regularly schedule 15-20 client sessions per week.
  • Work with families as appropriate to develop individualized parenting plans, and to provide parenting skills assistance, both in a one-to-one setting and through group-based parenting programming.
  • In conjunction with the Children and Youth Services Manager, the Counselors will facilitate appropriate clinical, therapeutic art therapy and psycho-educational individual and group sessions.
  • Serve as a resource to clients on how to assist children and youth affected by domestic violence;
  • Provide resources and support to FJC on-site partners in their work with children and youth;
  • Liaise with other professionals both on-site at the FJC and externally in order to meet the comprehensive needs of children, youth and their families.
  • Alert ENDGBV FJC Administrative staff about high risk or priority cases and provide immediate assistance as needed to FJC clients who have children and are in crisis;
  • Regularly participate in staff and partner meetings/trainings;
  • Conduct relevant trainings for FJC on-site partners;
  • In collaboration with ENDGBV, participate in outreach events in the community to raise awareness about domestic violence and the services offered at the FJCs;
  • Adhere to Program Provider and FJC confidentiality practices and protocols;
    Perform other related tasks, as determined by the ENDGBV FJC Administrative staff in collaboration with provider.
What You’ll Bring
  • Must have a master’s in counseling, social work or psychology.
  • Must have 1-2 years’ experience working with traumatized children and their families.
  • Experience in Family and /or gender-based violence, LBGTQ, MH and SUD preferred.

Salary Range

The expected salary for this position is $62,000-$67,000 annually. This range reflects the anticipated compensation at the time of this posting and may be adjusted based on experience, education, and organizational needs.
