General Description

The Victim Services & Youth Supervisor provides supportive leadership, supervision, and day-to-day oversight for the First Step Victim Services, Runaway and Homeless Youth, and Safe Harbour programs. This role ensures services are delivered in a safe, compassionate, trauma-informed, victim-centered, and developmentally appropriate manner consistent with agency values, program standards, and funding requirements. The Victim Services & Youth Supervisor supports staff growth and confidence through coaching, guidance, and collaborative problem-solving, while also providing clear direction and accountability to ensure high-quality, ethical, and effective services for victims, survivors, youth, and families served through these programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides supportive supervision, coaching, and performance feedback to assigned staff within First Step Victim Services, Runaway and Homeless Youth, and Safe Harbour programming.
  • Fosters a trauma-informed, accountable team culture grounded in ethical practice, empowerment, safety, professional boundaries, and respect for client and youth self-determination.
  • Provides case consultation and practice guidance related to domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, human trafficking, homelessness, family conflict, crisis intervention, mental health or substance use concerns, and systems involvement.
  • Supports staff in safety planning, advocacy, service planning, referrals, documentation, and systems navigation while ensuring services remain within program scope and funding requirements.
  • Assists staff in determining appropriate responses in complex or high-risk situations, including when to respond, when to seek additional support, when to involve community partners, and when not to respond independently.
  • Supports staff in balancing youth autonomy, caregiver involvement when appropriate, safety concerns, mandated reporting responsibilities, and the unique needs of runaway, homeless, trafficked, exploited, or at-risk youth.
  • Reinforces role clarity, healthy boundaries, confidentiality, informed consent, ethical documentation, and safe practice standards across all programs.
  • Monitors documentation, case records, and data entry for accuracy, completeness, timeliness, confidentiality, and alignment with program standards, reporting requirements, audits, and best practices.
  • Identifies documentation trends, training needs, service gaps, or practice concerns and address them through supervision, coaching, and process improvement.
  • Coordinates with program staff to plan, organize, attend, and support outreach activities, awareness events, trainings, and community engagement efforts, including agency-hosted events that may occur outside of regular business hours.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with community partners, including law enforcement, district attorney’s offices, courts, schools, child protective services, social services, mental health providers, housing providers, child advocacy centers, and other agencies serving victims, survivors, youth, and families.
  • Represents the programs and agency in community meetings, coalitions, multidisciplinary collaborations, trainings, outreach events, and awareness activities as appropriate.
