We currently seek a part-time Career Coach to join our Youth Services Department. The Career Coach will be the primary resource for participants transitioning into the workforce, ensuring that participants succeed in their careers. The career coach will support participants to navigate career growth through training placements, ongoing support and counseling. They will also mentor participants in the pre and post employment phases of service provision.

This position will report on-site to our office located in the Bronx, N.Y. The hours and days for this position are Tuesday 12-5pm, Wednesday 1-5pm, and Thursday 12-5pm.

Salary Range: $28.02 - $29.40 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Support participants by participating in the development of employment service plans
  • Conduct outreach to promote program services to ensure client referrals
  • Screen potential candidates for program enrollment and orient participants to the program by sharing program objectives
  • Conduct thorough intake screening interviews and assessments to evaluate program compatibility for potential program enrollment
  • Identify participant training interests that will lead to career tracks and ensure appropriate referral matching to training partners
  • Provide case management to participants with support and follow up through mentoring, counseling and annoying coaching
  • Meet with participants to address issues, challenges and successes
  • Document participant progress in the form of individual service entries and maintain confidential case records
  • Maintain relationships with external agencies to refer or obtain additional participant services
  • Facilitate weekly workshops addressing issues related to job readiness, professionalism and cognitive behavior
  • Provide monthly service outcome information and supporting documentation for reporting purposes as required by funding agencies
  • Attend and participate in appropriate interdepartmental and cross-functional meetings to increase awareness of job placement services and additional resources that support participants
  • Document all participant progress in Salesforce and DOP Connect
  • Attend assigned training
  • In-person attendance is required to collaborate with co-workers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field; in lieu of a degree, High School Diploma or equivalent with four years experience working for a non-profit agency in workforce development or related field
  • At least two years of experience in vocational/case management and job readiness experience
  • At least one year of experience working for a non-profit agency supporting young adults, with an understanding of the criminal justice environment
  • Experience providing direct services to people with barriers to employment

  • Strong ability to gain and maintain relationships with individuals who can offer educational, vocational, internship/apprenticeship and employment opportunities

  • Strong data entry skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
  • Ability to travel locally
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and build strong relationships
