Program OverviewKing Garden is a sixty-seven unit senior apartment building, where CAMBA tenants occupy twenty units. CAMBA provides comprehensive social services including recreation interactive groups and events.
Position OverviewThe Recreation Aide is responsible for creating and facilitating new and existing group content on a part-time and daily basis. The Recreation Aide will work in conjunction with staff on events and set-up, groups, fire drills, presentations, decorations, flyers, trips and shopping as needed. The Recreation Aide will create and generate monthly calendars to be distributed on the 1st of the month.
Responsibilities- Maintain professional relationships with clients and compliance with HIPPA regulations.
- Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.
- Comply with any and all Federal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.
- Assist with the teaching of physical education, arts and crafts, performing arts, music, sports, ADL or other recreational activities.
- Help plan, coordinate and facilitate social and/or peer support events for clients.
- Organize, and co-facilitate group community activities.
- Assist with the design and production of aesthetic visuals for public spaces of the shelter which reflect cultural, seasonal and programmatic themes.
- Communicate effectively with clients, CAMBA staff, community members and with funders.
- Track and keep records of equipment and supplies used.
- Ensure that recreation facilities and equipment are used properly.
- Monitor clients' progress toward their goals (dates achieved) and document via progress notes.
- Market the program in order to recruit clients.
- Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
- May conduct initial and ongoing assessments of clients’ situations and needs.
- May prepare marketing materials for the program.
- May create and maintain client files.
- May input client data and client progress information into automated database.
- Tasks may be modified, expanded and/or assigned over time.
High school diploma or G.E.D. and/or equivalent experience.
Other RequirementsExperience developing and coordinating recreational activities that reinforce a client’s desire to lead a clean/sober/independent life with a non-profit or other organization that services special needs or related populations.
