Social Work Intern Responsibilities

• Research and program development support including baseline and post-intervention assessments for Hang Out SDH members.
• Summarize and enter research data, review previous research summaries, and note trends.
• Implement HFM’s annual feedback survey for various member groups.
• Participate in annual SWOT analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for project planning.
• Identify, assess, and apply for private funding streams (grant writing).
• Schedule and conduct meetings with agency representatives; maintain new member file set-up and data entry.
• Maintain files digitally and in paper form; update membership records and provide hard copies of current applications.
• Write objective, individualized case notes for each Saturday event and group; create digital case notes after interactions.
• Write monthly summaries for SDH enrolled individuals and yearly social goal progress reviews.
• Co‑facilitate all Saturday HFM social outings, “Let’s Hang Out” social skills groups, and other social skill sessions.
• Support members in defining and attaining friendship goals using baseline information‑gathering sheets.
• Guide Social Solutions discussion, practice issue identification, encourage check‑ins, and perspective‑taking.
• Provide validation calls to members after groups or events, as needed.
• Co‑facilitate psycho‑educational or social capital groups during winter/spring for 8‑12 members; facilitate small social capital break‑out groups twice monthly.
• Develop curriculum for psycho‑educational or social capital groups as needed.
• Provide brief therapy‑style social coaching on an as‑needed basis over phone or in‑person.
• Facilitate ongoing social relationship development among program members via phone, email, and face‑to‑face interactions.
• Attend ISP meetings (as needed) to coordinate care and discuss progress toward social goals.
• Hold 1:1 and small group coaching sessions following established protocols, working with Social Worker on clinical integration.
• Monitor HFM’s incoming email and telephone line to coordinate member communication and logistics.
• Develop a quarterly newsletter with social suggestions and community outing ideas; enhance social media presence via web design, video, and Facebook.
• Help members identify community opportunities to connect and foster social capital outside of HFM.
• Coordinate and organize preparation before Saturday outings and manage follow‑up logistics, including vendor thank‑you cards.
• Oversee at least one HFM project selected based on academic goals to further improve the program; report progress and troubleshoot hurdles with the team.

Unpaid internship, open only to current students. Internship may satisfy course credit if approved by the student’s institution of learning. Applicant must be a current student.
