Location: New York
Welcome to Brightline! We are seeking a part-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our care team in the New York metro area. In this role, you will work alongside an outstanding multidisciplinary team of therapists, psychologists, coaches, and prescribers to deliver thoughtful, high-quality psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and their families.
This role is hybrid: you will provide in-person care at least 1 day per week at Brightline's White Plains clinic, with additional virtual responsibilities serving patients across our other New York clinics — including Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island, and our new Albany location. This is not a high-volume, assembly-line practice. We take time with our patients, use a structured three-part diagnostic series, and conduct 30-minute medication management visits that allow for real clinical relationship-building.
You will report directly to the Medical Director, with support from the Chief Medical Officer. You will receive weekly individual supervision with the Medical Director as well as team-based group supervision — because we believe that clinician development and clinical quality go hand in hand.
Responsibilities Clinical Care- Conduct comprehensive three-part diagnostic evaluations — including separate sessions with caregivers, the child or adolescent, and a feedback session — to ensure thorough, family-centered assessment.
- Provide ongoing psychiatric medication management via 30-minute follow-up visits, using psychotherapy add-on codes to support quality therapeutic engagement beyond the medication check.
- Complete thorough biopsychosocial intake evaluations, incorporating psychiatric history, medical history, psychosocial functioning, family systems, cultural context, and relevant environmental factors.
- Conduct risk assessments related to suicidality, self-harm, harm to others, abuse, neglect, and safety concerns, and initiate appropriate clinical interventions when indicated.
- Apply trauma-informed, equity-centered, and culturally responsive practices across all clinical interactions.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications — including stimulants and other controlled substances — in accordance with evidence-based guidelines and Brightline's clinical protocols.
- Collaborate closely with therapists, testing psychologists, coaches, and other non-clinical team members to deliver coordinated, holistic care for each patient and family.
- Participate in case consultations, treatment planning discussions, and team meetings to ensure alignment across disciplines.
- Communicate clearly and effectively across professional backgrounds — translating clinical reasoning into language that is accessible and actionable for non-prescribing colleagues.
- Contribute to a team culture of psychological safety, mutual respect, and shared accountability for patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of session notes, care plans, medication decisions, and progress updates within Brightline's electronic health record system.
- Utilize Brightline's AI-assisted documentation tools — including an AI scribe — to support efficient, high-quality note completion without sacrificing clinical nuance.
- Adhere to Brightline's documentation standards and turnaround expectations, supporting seamless care coordination across the team.
- Partner effectively with non-clinical care operations staff on scheduling, patient communication, and care logistics.
- Engage with Brightline's evolving technology stack with curiosity and adaptability, including AI tools, telehealth platforms, and clinical decision support features.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical trainings, and professional development opportunities offered by Brightline.
- Contribute clinical perspective to team discussions about care model improvement, protocol development, and patient experience.
- Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC); board-eligible candidates with a clear certification timeline will be considered for the right candidate.
- Minimum 2–3 years of post-training…
