Advocate Counselor provides individual, family and group counseling, case management, advocacy, referrals, crisis intervention, and post‑secondary planning once a student reaches graduation requirements. The Advocate Counselor will work in collaboration with GSS and DOE by following the policies and procedures implemented by the program while meeting the mission and vision of the GSS agency.

Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm
- Provide case management and wraparound support services for up to 50 or more over‑aged and under‑credit students, helping them alleviate any stressors so they can successfully meet graduation requirements.
- Provide individual, family and group counseling.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Provide family outreach and involvement as appropriate.
- Develop and implement strategic and goal planning for students on the caseload.
- Develop and implement groups/workshops responsive to student needs, such as Advisory, Men and Women groups.
- Assist students in attending school regularly by identifying obstacles and connecting them with resources.
- Attendance outreach includes home visits, outreach calls, texting, and mailing.
- Assist in carrying out other aspects of the program including planning trips, celebrations, and leadership activities.
- Support students with all aspects of post‑secondary planning, financial aid, personal essay, and college or vocational training trips.
- Collaborate effectively with DOE and GSS team members.
- Generate and submit data required for statistical reports, ensuring appropriate paperwork and database entry is completed.
- Perform other duties as assigned and needed to further enhance program performance.
- Associate Degree required.
- Experience working with adolescents/young adults individually and in groups.
- Prior experience in a school setting helpful.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to work from a strength‑based and/or youth development perspective.
