Position: Residential Aide, The Landing Family Shelter
Location: East Elmhurst

Residential Aide

CAMBA operates 6 single adult shelters and 6 family shelters and one drop in center. Each shelter offers clients a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free facility. Homeless (often mentally-ill and substance-abusing) men and women are provided with comprehensive services to stabilize their condition in order to successfully transition into permanent and/or supported housing.

CAMBA's The Landing Family Shelter is funded by New York City Department of Homeless Services and offers families a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free facility. It provides comprehensive case management services to 169 families who are in a transitional residence program for homeless families. The three story facility has rooms of various sizes, common areas and provides on-site security and social services.

The Residential Aide reports to the Shift Supervisor and is located at 9400 Ditmars Boulevard, Queens, NY 11369. The Residential Aide assists clients in the development of daily independent living skills through both individual and group Activities of Daily Living (ADL) sessions, including laundry, meal preparation and clean up, personal hygiene, shopping, and maintaining a schedule of activities. They also maintain inventory of food and dry goods and provide clients with an orientation of the facility, services and personal care items upon arrival.

Minimum education/experience required is a high school diploma or G.E.D. and/or equivalent experience. Other requirements include signing NYC DOH/MH attestation stating that candidate has not been the subject of a founded child abuse report, participating in Department of Health Food Protection 15 hour Course, passing exam and becoming a certified Food Handler, obtaining Annual PPD Test, and may be required to become First Aid/CPR certified and certified in overdose prevention.

Bi-lingual preferred.

Compensation is $18.50 hourly. CAMBA offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, dental insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, paid time off (vacation, personal, and sick time), and paid holidays.
