Position: Residential Advisor (62766)

Residential Advisor

Do you enjoy mentoring young adults, creating a positive community, and helping others achieve their goals? If so, Glenmont Job Corps wants you on our team! As a Residential Advisor (RA), you’ll do more than supervise a dorm—you’ll become a mentor, role model, coach, and trusted resource for students as they prepare for successful careers and independent living.

Full Time position—40 hours a week. Split shift:
Saturday and Sunday 8 a‑5 p, Monday 3 p‑12 a, Tuesday and Wednesday 11:30 p‑8:30 a, Thursday and Friday OFF.

What You’ll Do
  • Creating a safe, welcoming, and positive dormitory environment.
  • Encouraging students to develop positive attitudes, responsible behaviors, and independent living skills.
  • Coaching and mentoring students to help them reach their personal, educational, and career goals.
  • Providing guidance, one‑on‑one support, and facilitating group discussions.
  • Identifying students who may benefit from additional support and coordinating referrals to counselors.
  • Promoting positive peer leadership and reinforcing Career Success Standards.
  • Monitoring dormitories and the campus to ensure student safety and address concerns before they become problems.
  • Assisting with dorm activities, student leadership initiatives, and unit government.
  • Preparing daily reports, maintaining accurate student files, documenting case notes, and completing required administrative tasks.
  • Helping maintain clean, organized, and welcoming dorm facilities.
  • Ensuring dorm supplies are available and safety standards are maintained.
  • Supporting the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy while fostering a respectful and inclusive community.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Performing other duties that contribute to student success and campus operations.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED).
  • Advanced degrees preferred.
  • A minimum of one‑year Job Corps or related program experience required.
  • A valid in‑state driver’s license preferred.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Must be able to lift 40 pounds or have ability to assess lift load and request assistance.
