Position Summary: The Office of Food and Nutrition Services (OFNS) employs a workforce of over 8,000 employees in 1,600 locations to prepare and serve New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) students over 150 million meals annually. To carry out this work OFNS annually uses +$300M of equipment, food, supplies and services purchased under contract, and $40M+ of federally supplied food commodities.
In addition to day-to-day operations, OFNS is working on several initiatives that will add overall value to work performed and support high-level Chancellor and Mayoral initiatives.
The Accountability and Compliance Associate, OFNS will support the Accountability Coordinator in coordinating outreach and engagement, including field visits and record keeping to gather information regarding student meal participation and feedback on concerns and areas of improvement. Performs related work.

Key Relationships:Relationships will be fostered with the Office of Food and Nutrition Services (OFNS) staff, and with interested stakeholders regarding Mayoral Initiatives in the NYCPS and in other NYC agencies.
Responsibilities- Supports the Accountability Coordinator with outreach to the field regarding scheduling visits and responding to general inquiries related to student meal services.
- Maintains communication between stakeholders including community-based organizations, programs, and field staff.
- Maintains records and tracks inquiries received from the field regarding topics such as meal programs and menu options.
- Assists in collecting data regarding compliance with mandatory nutrition education and food safety training for school food service personnel.
- Promptly documents and escalates any compliance issues and concerns reported from the field to leadership.
- Prepares progress reports and assessments of program implementation for leadership.
- Maintains updated records of corrective action plans when deficiencies or compliance issues are identified.
- Supports staff by disseminating guidelines and resources to ensure compliance with local, state and federal guidelines.
- Assists with the rollout of major changes to food services programs.
- High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
- Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent project planning and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency with basic computer applications.
$44,432 (New Hire Rate)
$51,094 - $56,203 (Incumbent - 2 years of full-time continuous City service)
(Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)
