Job Description

JOB TITLE: Social Worker - LCSW

DIVISION: Services

FLSA: Exempt

LOCATION: College Point, NY (Queens)

REPORTS TO: Program Director

SUMMARY: The LCSW is responsible for coordinating out‑patient and inpatient mental health and substance abuse services for a 200+ bed women's shelter. Proof of COVID‑19 vaccinations required.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate weekly mental‑health/substance‑abuse workshops and onsite support groups for clients.
  • Maintain knowledge of community resources and make appropriate referrals to community, governmental agencies, and other service providers.
  • Independently assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of clients to formulate and implement treatment plans, identifying clients’ problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills, and needed assistance.
  • Apply a strength‑based, client‑centered perspective to conduct psychosocial assessments and provide treatment to diverse individuals across socio‑economic, cultural, ethnic, educational, and other backgrounds.
  • Utilize medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures in practice.
  • Provide consultation to other staff about clients’ psychosocial needs and the impact of psychosocial problems on healthcare and treatment compliance.
  • Employ computer software for drafting documents, data management, and tracking.
  • Provide crisis intervention and stabilization as needed; may require after‑hours or weekend follow‑up to emergency situations.
  • Maintain, review, and sign off all required documentation and reports, submitting them in a timely manner.
  • Identify program needs and make recommendations.
  • Perform related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

LCSW required. Must have a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE‑accredited school. At least two years of experience in specialized social work practice. Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.

Must have own car and a valid New York State driver’s license.
