under the authority of the technical advisor responsible for the social service department of the crous, the social service assistant's main missions are:

  • welcome, inform, and socially support students to help them adapt to the specifics of university life and, in the long term, to integrate into professional life:
    • welcome, advise, and socially support students through individual care;
    • evaluate situations, develop negotiated aid plans, orient to appropriate organizations, and inform about access to rights;
    • know the social devices and rights related to students facing specific problems (disability situation and rights of foreign students) and young people in general (youth aid fund…);
    • write social notes and evaluations;
    • process financial aid request files related to internal and external devices;
    • participate in different commissions and meetings;
    • report to the technical advisor on the difficulties encountered by students.
  • advice and expertise on the institution's student living conditions and participation in social policy:
    • participate in the search for institutional and non-institutional responses;
    • participate in the life of the team and service, report on meetings and gatherings;
    • initiate and develop collective prevention and information actions;
    • inform about problems with social impact.
    the social service assistant benefits from technical autonomy within the framework of their professional responsibilities. However, they must take into account hierarchical rules and participate in the priority actions set by the service. Their interventions are carried out according to the deontological rules governing the profession (professional secrecy).

main activities:

  • welcome, inform, and accompany students faced with social difficulties.
  • evaluate situations, build individualized aid plans, and orient to the appropriate devices and partners.
  • process financial aid request files from the crous and institutional partners (specific aids, donations and legacy, fsdie, exoneration requests, food aid requests…).
  • write professional writings and report on their activity to the service responsible (notes, social evaluations, concerning information, social report, activity report of the sector).
  • participate in the different commissions.
  • contribute to the student social policy by advising the institution.
  • develop network work and partnerships and devise and implement prevention and collective information actions, in particular on their sectors.
