Position OverviewThe Vocational Specialist provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Familiar with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations as they apply to the community residence program and agency policies
- Provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Visits clients in their home and other settings required.
- Familiar with OMH regulations
- Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services
- Provides aid and assistance through all phases of the vocational service provision
- Performing routine clinical services as a member of the team
- Responsible for charting client services
- Responsible for vocational portion or all of creating the service plan
- Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services with the tasks of all the team members
- Responsible for ensuring revisions to the plan as the participant’s needs change
- Advocating for the rights and preferences of the participant whenever possible
- Responsible for creating a monthly spreadsheet with names of tenants and their employment status
- Follow-up quarterly with all employed tenants
- Assist with making monthly contact with tenant as needed
- Participate in bi-weekly monthly meeting
- Participate in monthly supervision to address any work-related tasks or concerns
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- BA degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
- Must have two or more years’ experience working with persons who are seriously persistently mentally ill under the supervision of a certified rehabilitation counselor.
- Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Word/Excel.
- Ability to research material via the internet.
- Valid driver’s license is a plus, but not required.
- Experience working with different populations preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred.
