Social Worker, BIVO​/Project Restore Brownsville

Project Restore Brownsville is a community-based violence intervention and prevention initiative designed to support young people at elevated risk of involvement in gun violence. The program combines intensive case management, mentoring, trauma informed group work, and workforce development opportunities to stabilize
participants, reduce violent behavior, and support long-term positive outcomes. Project Restore operates as an enhancement of existing BIVO work, strengthening continuity of care, supervision, and participant engagement across systems.

The person filling this position is expected, under close supervision, to provide clinical oversight, trauma-informed support, and behavioral health coordination for Project Restore Brownsville participants. The Social Worker ensures that participant care is responsive, ethical, and aligned with best practices, while also supervising case management staff and supporting complex cases.

• Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.
• Comply with all Federal, State, City, and CAMBA security and privacy policies to protect the confidentiality of individual health information.
• Ensure the safety and security of all participants by following program protocols and procedures, including supervision, accident and incident reporting.
• Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and develop individualized service plans for assigned participants.
• Provide supervision and guidance to Case Managers regarding participant care, documentation, and service planning.
• Conduct mental health screenings and psychosocial assessments for participants as needed.
• Maintain a reduced caseload of participants requiring higher levels of clinical support.
• Develop and implement trauma-informed intervention strategies.
• Support crisis response efforts, including safety planning and de-escalation.
• Coordinate referrals to mental health providers, substance use treatment, and other clinical services.
• Consult with program leadership on participant risk factors and stabilization strategies.
• Facilitate case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure coordinated care.
• Support staff development around trauma-informed care, boundaries, and ethical practice.
• Monitor service delivery to ensure alignment with program standards and clinical best practices.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of clinical services and supervision activities.
• Assist in developing policies and procedures related to participant behavioral health support.
• Participate in program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives related to participant wellness.
• Support family engagement efforts when appropriate and clinically indicated.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required.
• New York State licensure (LMSW, LMHC, or equivalent) required or ability to obtain within a specified
  timeframe.

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience providing clinical or behavioral health services to justice-involved or high-risk youth and young adults.
• Experience supervising or providing clinical guidance to case management staff preferred.
• Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention strategies.
• Ability to manage complex cases involving violence exposure, trauma, and system involvement.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills.
