Outreach Coordinator
At Commonpoint, community is at the heart of everything we do. With more than 93 program sites and flagship locations in Little Neck, Bayside, Forest Hills, East Elmhurst, and Jamaica, we proudly serve over 125,000 individuals each year. From early childhood to older adulthood, we support people from all walks of life on their journeys from crisis to stability and empowerment.
Our wide range of programs, spanning social services, education, and recreation, reflects our mission to build a more connected, inclusive, and thriving community for all.
The Full-Time Outreach Coordinator serves as a primary mentor and point of contact for youth and families within the Beacon and school community, providing engagement, support, encouragement, and guidance. Working within Commonpoint's holistic, strengths-based, and family-centered approach, the Outreach Coordinator builds meaningful relationships with youth and families, with a particular focus on hard-to-reach and disengaged youth and students experiencing chronic absenteeism.
The position plays a lead role in supporting students' academic, social-emotional, and overall well-being while coordinating the delivery of student and family support services. The Outreach Coordinator provides individual and group support, monitors student attendance and progress, facilitates workshops and enrichment activities, conducts student and family outreach, and connects families to appropriate school, agency, and community resources. The role also strengthens community ties by developing an understanding of neighborhood dynamics, fostering relationships with community partners, supporting conflict resolution, and creating collaborative strategies that promote positive outcomes for youth and families.
As a key collaborator between Commonpoint and the school community, the Outreach Coordinator works closely with school leadership, teachers, support staff, mental health professionals, families, and community-based partners to coordinate services, strengthen referrals, and address attendance, academic, behavioral, social emotional, and family needs. The Outreach Coordinator participates in interdisciplinary meetings and contributes to a coordinated, student-centered approach to supporting student success.
In addition to direct service responsibilities, the Outreach Coordinator provides day-to-day guidance and oversight to Part-Time staff and helps ensure that programming and services are responsive to the needs of students, families, and the broader community. Across the agency, Coordinators are responsible for supporting effective program operations, ensuring compliance with funder and agency requirements, and helping translate program goals into daily practice through collaboration, organization, and accountability.
