Aboutthe Role
As our new Software Engineer III you’ll be part of the GDI (Getting Data In) group under NG-SIEM with a focus on data ingestion at petabyte-scale. The group handles data ingestion and onboarding for NG-SIEM customers, ingesting several petabytes of data per day across multiple regions from 100+ first‑party and third‑party data sources.
You will focus on a broad area of the product including ingest pipeline, data enrichment, alerting and real‑time searches. You will work on large‑scale distributed systems and participate in larger projects, collaborating with frontend engineers, UX designers and product managers.
Teams in NG-SIEM have autonomy and own parts of the experience from ideation and development to deployment and feedback, ensuring high quality features through automated and manual testing.
This role is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days per week on-site in NYC.
What You’ll Do- Work on enabling petabyte-scale data ingestion at millions of events per second with sub-second latencies
- Solve hard problems in distributed systems including high availability, reliability, performance and cost optimization
- Develop systems in Scala and Go
- Support globally available, multi‑region production systems
- Lead and participate in cross‑team platform‑level initiatives and projects
- Collaborate with colleagues across teams and communicate effectively
- Follow best practices in software development: code reviews, automated tests, agile development, retrospectives, incremental improvements and continuous deployment
- Troubleshoot critical production issues
- Participate in scoping, designing and developing new features
- Continuously improve internal tools and processes
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with internal stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident and work solely from U.S. soil
- MS in Computer Science, IT engineering or equivalent experience
- Fluency in at least one programming language, preferably one running on the JVM
- Can‑do attitude and thrives in a collaborative team environment
- 4+ years of Backend Engineer experience
- Experience programming in Scala and/or Go
- Experience with commercial clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience with Kafka
- Strong debugging skills
- Experience developing complex software applications
- Hands-on experience in large-scale distributed system architecture, high scalability and availability, and optimization
