Lead Backend Developer (NYC – Hybrid)
Location: New York City (Flatiron District, Manhattan)
Work model: Hybrid – 2 days on-site, 3 days remote
Start: ASAP
Type: Full-time, permanent (W2)
Role SummaryOur client is hiring a Lead Backend Developer to take technical ownership of backend services for a client-facing platform. This is a hands-on senior role involving architecture, API development, and collaboration with frontend, Dev Ops, and product teams.
Key Responsibilities- Design and build scalable REST APIs using Node.js/Type Script or Java
- Own backend architecture and contribute to technical decisions
- Work with SQL and No
SQL databases - Ensure code quality through reviews, testing, and documentation
- Collaborate with frontend, Dev Ops, and stakeholders
- Support CI/CD, containerization, and cloud deployment
- Mentor junior developers (if applicable)
- 5+ years of backend development experience
- Strong production experience with Node.js (Type Script) or Java (Spring Boot)
- Experience with backend frameworks (NestJS, Express, Spring Boot, etc.)
- Database experience (Postgre
SQL, Mongo
DB, Redis, etc.) - API documentation (Swagger / OpenAPI)
- Familiarity with Docker
, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) - Git-based workflows
- Microservices experience
- Dev Ops exposure (CI/CD, containers)
- Some frontend familiarity
- Experience working in consulting or client-facing environments
- Base salary: ~$150,000 (negotiable)
- Bonus: Up to 10% annually
- 401(k) with company match
- $600/month health insurance allowance
