Software Engineer, Full Stack Developer
Drop Fitness is a technology-enabled fitness platform powering multi-location gyms, boutique studios, and consumer fitness brands. We build and operate our own internal software across memberships, scheduling, payments, analytics, and operations—and we migrate clients from legacy systems onto the Drop platform.
In addition to serving external clients, we operate our own luxury box gym in Montvale, NJ, which functions as a real-world testing environment for new product features and operational workflows. This dual perspective allows us to build practical, scalable tools grounded in real business needs.
Role OverviewAs a Software Engineering Team Lead at Drop Fitness, you'll spearhead our offshore engineering team, fostering collaboration and technical excellence in a fast-paced startup environment. This hands‑on leadership position involves guiding sprint planning, conducting code reviews, facilitating daily stand‑ups, and partnering with QA to ensure high‑quality feature delivery. You'll play a pivotal role in building scalable, user‑centric solutions that power our all‑in‑one fitness platform, while mentoring engineers to drive innovation and align with our mission of transforming gym operations.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor an offshore team of 4-6 software engineers, providing guidance on best practices, career development, and performance feedback to build a high‑performing, motivated group. - Sprint Planning & Execution:
Collaborate with product and QA teams to define sprint goals, prioritize tasks, and lead planning sessions; facilitate daily stand‑ups to track progress and resolve blockers. - Code Reviews & Quality Assurance:
Conduct thorough code reviews to uphold standards for maintainability, security, and performance; ensure all sprint features are fully implemented, tested, and deployed without defects. - Technical Architecture:
Design and oversee full‑stack development initiatives, integrating backend services with frontend interfaces and mobile apps to deliver seamless experiences across web and mobile. - Cross‑Functional
Collaboration:
Partner with QA, product managers, and stakeholders to align on requirements, mitigate risks, and integrate features like scheduling, CRM workflows, and real‑time dashboards into our platform. - Process Improvement:
Champion agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and tools to streamline workflows; identify opportunities for tech enhancements that support scalability for multi‑location gym operations. - Innovation & Onboarding:
Stay abreast of fitness tech trends, contribute to the engineering roadmap, and assist in hiring/onboarding new team members to scale our offshore capabilities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience:
6+ years in full‑stack software engineering, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role managing remote or offshore teams; proven track record in agile environments, including sprint planning and stand‑ups. - Technical Expertise:
Strong full‑stack background with proficiency in backend technologies (NestJS, .NET) and frontend frameworks (Angular); experience with mobile development using Flutter for iOS/Android; solid knowledge of relational databases like MySQL. Familiarity with secure API integrations, real‑time data handling, and no‑code/low‑code tools is a plus. - Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working across time zones with offshore teams and QA; ability to mentor junior engineers and drive feature completion under deadlines. - Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in SaaS platforms for fitness, hospitality, or similar industries.
- Knowledge of cloud services (e.g., AWS, Digital Ocean) and Dev Ops practices for scalable deployments.
- Familiarity with CRM integrations, payment processing, or analytics tools.
- Experience using AI in developing software projects.
