Title: Principal Software Engineer
Location: NYC
Salary: $250K - $330K + Equity
A rapidly growing SaaS AI startup in NYC is hiring a Principal Full Stack Engineer in a hands-on leadership position reporting directly to the CEO. This role provides the opportunity to take ownership over work and shape the technical direction for the team.
This high-impact, hands-on leadership role covers frontend, backend, and infrastructure. You will define the technical direction, build scalable distributed systems, and ship customer-facing features that impact millions of users. This role is ideal for someone excited by startup ownership, consumer SaaS, and building AI-powered systems with immediate impact.
Responsibilities- Own and contribute to full stack development across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
- Define architecture and ship systems from 0 to 1.
- Design and implement scalable distributed systems.
- Drive technical decisions in a high-growth startup environment.
- Translate product ideas into customer-facing features with measurable impact.
- Collaborate with leadership to shape technical direction and roadmap.
- 7+ years of experience in full stack or product-focused software engineering.
- 3+ years of technical product ownership and/or scaling teams.
- Experience defining architecture and shipping systems from 0 to 1.
- Full stack experience across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
- Experience with scalable system design and distributed architectures.
- Comfortable driving technical decisions in high-growth settings.
- Proven ability to turn product ideas into customer-facing features.
