We're building a new healthcare clearinghouse.
In the healthcare sector, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requires that all insurance payers exchange transactions such as claims, eligibility checks, prior authorizations, and remittances using a standardized EDI format called X12 HIPAA. A small group of legacy clearinghouses processes the majority of these transactions, offering consolidated connectivity to carriers and providers.
Stedi is the world's only programmable healthcare clearinghouse. By offering modern API interfaces alongside traditional real-time and batch EDI processes, we enable both healthcare technology businesses and established players to exchange mission‑critical transactions. Our clearinghouse product and customer‑first approach have set us apart. Stedi was ranked as Ramp’s #3 fastest‑growing SaaS vendor.
Stedi has lightning in a bottle: engineers and designers shipping products week in and week out; a lean business team supporting the company’s infrastructure; passion for automation and eliminating toil; $92 million in funding from top investors like Stripe, Addition, USV, Bloomberg Beta, First Round Capital, and more. To learn more about how we work, watch our founder Zack’s interview with First Round Capital.
What We Are Looking ForStedi is an API‑first healthcare clearinghouse. By offering a modern API interface for running eligibility checks, processing claims, and ingesting ERAs, healthcare technology businesses are able to exchange transactions with payers without dealing with the EDI protocol or carrier‑specific connectivity. Our goal is to increase the number of direct payer integrations that we have by 100x over the next 12 months.
This is a complex problem that involves massively parallelizing a process across many payers simultaneously – a process that includes legal agreements, technical implementation and testing, relationship building, and a general do‑whatever‑it‑takes approach to keep the payers moving through the pipeline.
- You have ample experience integrating with APIs: you are familiar with REST/SOAP APIs and have hands‑on experience building integrations to backend systems and applications.
- You are exceptional at staying on top of many open threads simultaneously. You are hyper‑responsive, organized, and thorough. You almost never drop balls.
- You have experience in customer/externally facing roles: you have experience in customer‑facing roles; ideally within technical support, implementation and onboarding, or solutions engineering roles.
- You have a systems mindset. You go beyond helping with the task are able to intuitively understand gaps as you work through implementations and are able to articulate those to both the network operations and engineering team.
- You do what it takes to get the job done. You are resourceful, self‑motivating, self‑disciplined, and don’t wait to be told what to do. You put in the hours.
- You move quickly. We move quickly as an organization. This requires an ability to match our pace and not get lost by responding with urgency (both externally to payers and internally to stakeholders), communicating what you are working on, and proactively asking for help or feedback when you need it.
- Lead the technical integration and implementation process with hundreds of payers.
- Establish and continuously improve Stedi’s “payer integration playbook.”
- Create and maintain organized documentation of new payer integrations and track implementation progress.
- Collaborate with engineering, customer operations, finance, product, and legal to get each integration across the line.
- Build and foster relationships with key stakeholders at payers as you navigate implementations.
