Senior Backend Engineer; Java​/Microservices

We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer (Java / Microservices) to build and scale high-performance, low-latency, distributed systems powering a global B2B marketplace. This role focuses on real-time data processing, microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and cloud-native backend development Ideal for engineers who enjoy solving scale, performance, and reliability challenges in a remote-first environment.

• Design, build, and scale Java-based microservices using Spring Boot.
• Develop low-latency, high-throughput backend systems for real-time workflows.
• Implement custom algorithms and data models for pricing, availability, and inventory.
• Build event-driven systems using AWS SQS, Kinesis, or similar messaging platforms.
• Own backend modules end-to-end, from system design to production rollout.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams.
• Optimize system performance for sub-50 ms latency and high concurrency.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and code quality standards.
• Use AI-assisted development tools and LLM workflows to accelerate engineering velocity.

• 6+ years of experience as a backend engineer/Java developer/software engineer.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
• Experience designing and scaling microservices architectures.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with AWS Cloud services (ECS, Lambda).
• Hands-on experience with databases:
  MySQL, Mongo
  
  DB, and Scylla
  
  DB.
• Experience with messaging systems: AWS SQS, Kinesis.
• Deep understanding of fault tolerance, back pressure, scalability, and consistency models.
• Experience building low-latency APIs and high-throughput systems.
• Familiarity with observability tools:
  Prometheus, Grafana, and Cloud Watch.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in remote-first, async teams.

• Experience with LLM pipelines, RAG, or agent-based workflows.
• Exposure to React or full-stack development.
• Experience with Spark, Databricks, or data platforms.
• AI/ML exposure in backend systems.
• Experience in SaaS platforms, B2B marketplaces, or travel tech.
