TextQL is an NYC-based startup working to drive the unit cost of a data-driven decision down to zero.

We're rapidly expanding our engineering team to build the agentic data lakehouse – finding trustworthy answers to hard questions from messy enterprise data without configuring schemas, moving data, or lengthy implementation roadmaps.

Data Platform  You will be focused on creating scalable systems enabling the next generation of agentic data systems:
1.
Agentic Semantic Layer  :
Today, no one stakes their job on AI-generated queries. You'll work on the system that changes that—giving agents the context to query enterprise data correctly, and the guardrails to prove it.  2.
Distributed Agent Systems  :
Creating the orchestration systems for agents that interact with the world – API integrations, rate limits, OAuth passthrough, model routers, scheduling and token optimization.  3.
Agentic Data Engineering  :
Designing the systems that enable AI-centric ETL pipelines for data lake houses, to make large-scale analytics possible for organizations with little to no data engineering resources.

About You  Have 4+ years of practical experience as a backend or platform engineer building scalable distributed systems  Experience at early-stage startups or building products from zero to one  

Experience with data visualization tools, knowledge of data engineering, data modeling, and big data technologies  Comfortable diving into any part of the system—infrastructure, services, or frontend  Take full ownership of your work, navigate ambiguity effectively, and proactively overcome obstacles to deliver results  Care about building systems that are robust, scalable, and easy to use  Have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or comparable experience

Compensation & Logistics  Compensation: $200K base salary, $100K equity, $50K-150K bonus based on performance and scope  Interview:
We prefer on-site interviews when feasible and can make a decision within 72 hours of your on-site. If you're outside NYC, we'll cover all travel expenses.  Onsite:
