We’re hiring a software engineer who can work directly with users to understand their needs and help translate those into product solutions. This role is both technical and collaborative: you’ll meet with customers to learn about their workflows and challenges, then work with the internal team to build and implement features that address them.

This position is a good fit for someone who wants to work on user-facing tools that solve specific, practical problems — and who’s comfortable switching between code and customer conversations.

• Talk directly with customers (planners, engineers, analysts) to understand how they use the product and where it falls short
• Translate customer feedback into technical requirements, wireframes, or implementation ideas
• Design, build, and maintain React Components and RESTful APIs which use spatial context to efficiently query and aggregate nationwide geospatial and temporal data.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to scope and deliver new features
• Support the iteration and refinement of features based on user testing and feedback
• Participate in on-call rotation; investigate and resolve production problems as they arise.

• Experience working in or with cross-functional product teams
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow through on projects
• Experience gathering requirements from users or stakeholders and incorporating them into product development

• Familiarity with tools like Figma
• Prior experience in early-stage product development or prototyping
• Experience working with government/public agency customers
• Experience with our tech stack which includes:
  React, Typescript, Node, Mapbox, Python, Pandas, Postgres, Big Query, Kubernetes, and Google Cloud Platform .
