• Experience applying statistical analysis to analyze datasets.

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 5 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
• Experience with Search Infrastructure and Search Quality.

Rank Embed is the embedding retrieval system that powers , Gemini, and more than 150 other client integrations. Our production databases index billions of web documents, manage millions of queries per second (QPS), and can produce high quality retrieval results in a latency budget. Our team is responsible for training the models that get deployed to production, deciding which web results Google's search products are and aren't able to find.

We are looking for an engineer to help evolve Google's retrieval systems, including squeezing more headroom out of existing linear retrieval approaches, contributing to our ongoing research bet into non-linear embedding retrieval, digging deep into the quality analysis of our impact, improving the debuggability of our system and its integration into the search stack.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
