Beacon Software is a permanent capital holding company that acquires and grows essential businesses. We are a profitable series B+ firm that combines technologists, operators and M&A professionals to accelerate the scale of the dozens of businesses we own and operate. We are supported by capital from tier-1 venture capital, crossover, and endowment investors, as well as the founders of the leading technology companies of the past decade.
We are growing our team in Toronto, San Francisco, and New York.

The Role
You’ll build and operate the foundational systems stack that runs Beacon and its portfolio. This is a hands‑on role on a small, flat team. You’ll co‑design the architecture and help build it: identity, endpoint, access, write the automation, ship the integration. You are a builder who thinks like an architect and is energized by being close to the systems rather than one layer removed from them.
Key Responsibilities- Help build the foundational systems from the ground up. Beacon’s IT and Systems function is early, so you’ll help shape and then mature the core stack: identity, endpoint management, permissioning and access architecture, networking, corporate security, and the SaaS layer that runs the business. You own architecture and execution, not handing off to someone else to implement.
- Automate the integrations. Stitching together HRIS, identity, finance, CRM, ticketing, and the rest of the stack is most of the work. You design durable integration patterns (event‑driven, webhook‑based, API‑first), write the glue code, and make sure the systems talk to each other reliably.
- Get creative with solutioning. Use the right technology for the problem. Lean on automation, scripting, AI tooling, and modern infrastructure‑as‑code wherever it makes sense.
- Land the technical slice of every integration. When Beacon acquires a portfolio company, you partner with our Senior TPM and the Integrations team to bring their systems and people into Beacon: standing up identity, devices, email, and security baselines, running data migrations and decommissions, hardening what needs hardening.
- Build it to be operated. Co‑write the runbooks, architecture decision records, and documentation that outlast any single person on the team. Establish the standards that portfolio companies can adopt rather than reinvent. The next integration is faster because of the last one.
- 10+ years building and operating corporate engineering, IT, or systems infrastructure at growth‑stage or multi‑entity companies
- Deep hands‑on with identity, SSO, SCIM, MFA, and modern access architecture
- Experience owning MDM, endpoint security, and device lifecycle (macOS primary, Windows secondary)
- Comfort writing code: scripting, automation, infrastructure‑as‑code, API integrations
- Track record of building things that other people can operate; documentation and standards are part of the job, not an afterthought
- Comfort operating without process. You create structure in ambiguous environments rather than waiting for it
- Bias for action; you’d rather ship than schedule a meeting about shipping
- M&A or multi‑entity integration experience
- Hands‑on with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or SOX ITGC programs
- AI‑native workflow experience used in real production
- Humility:
We acknowledge that the path to getting to the right answer involves being wrong along the way. We have strong beliefs which are weakly held. We actively seek new ideas and believe we can learn from anyone at any time. - Honesty:
We are truth‑seeking in our approach to business problems. Business is a repeat game and we believe that human relationships generate alpha. We understand that trust is earned over a lifetime and can be lost in an instant. - Hunger:
We play to win. We hold ourselves to high standards and will not be outworked. We take pride in having a deep sense of responsibility to ourselves, each other, our partners, and our customers. We believe to whom much is given, much is expected. - Horizon:
We seek to build a generational software company. This will take decades. We manage our expectations and those of our partners to take advantage of the 8th wonder of the world – compounding growth.
