Job Description & How to Apply Below
About the Role
Fortune Media is looking for its first software development engineer who will primarily dedicate his/her efforts to Salesforce development related tasks. The role will build and evolve our Salesforce ecosystem and serve as an internal technical expert shaping how we use Salesforce across enterprise sales, consumer subscriptions, events, and marketing operations. The engineer will work closely with Technology, Marketing, and Revenue teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable Salesforce solutions.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Develop and maintain Salesforce solutions across Sales Cloud (and, where relevant, Marketing Cloud), including custom objects, Apex classes, Lightning Web Components, Flow, triggers, and API/webhook integrations.
- Partner with business stakeholders and senior engineers to gather requirements, shape technical specifications, and break work into deliverable milestones.
- Contribute to end‑to‑end delivery of Salesforce projects – scoping, design, development, testing, deployment, and documentation – with guidance from technical leadership on larger initiatives.
- Build and maintain integrations between Salesforce and adjacent systems such as , marketing automation platforms, subscription management, event platforms, and financial systems.
- Implement and evolve Salesforce development best practices, including source control workflows in Git Hub, branching strategy, pull request reviews, CI/CD, sandbox management, and release processes.
- Write well‑tested, maintainable code with Apex test coverage and meaningful assertions; actively participate in code reviews to raise the bar for the team.
- Execute data migrations and support data quality and hygiene initiatives across CRM records.
- Act as a collaborative technical resource for Salesforce administrators and business stakeholders, explaining platform capabilities, trade‑offs, and limitations in plain language.
- Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot issues, and surface opportunities to improve system health, user experience, and adoption.
- Engineering Foundations: Strong grounding in computer science fundamentals, programming (Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript), and software design principles – demonstrated through a mix of general software engineering and Salesforce work. Candidates whose experience is limited to Salesforce configuration with no coding should not apply.
- Salesforce
Experience:
3–5 years of hands‑on Salesforce development including Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components, and declarative tools (Flow, Process Builder). - Git Hub and Source Control: Proficiency with Git and Git Hub in a team setting – branching strategies (Git Flow or trunk‑based), pull requests, code review, merge conflict resolution, and integration with Salesforce deployment workflows.
- Salesforce Development Best Practices: Demonstrated experience implementing trigger frameworks, separation of concerns, bulkification, governor‑limit‑aware code, Apex test coverage with meaningful assertions, metadata‑driven configuration, and structured release management using SFDX, Dev Ops Center, Copado, Gearset, or similar.
- API Integration: Experience building and consuming REST/SOAP API integrations between Salesforce and third‑party platforms.
- Data Model Knowledge: Working knowledge of the Salesforce data model, sharing/security model, and governor limits, with judgment to decide when to code versus configure.
- Certifications: Salesforce Platform Developer I certification required;
Platform Developer II or in‑progress is a plus. - Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage workload and prioritize across competing requests.
- Experience with Marketing Cloud (AMPscript, Journey Builder, or API integration) and other ESPs and CDP integrations into Sales Cloud.
- Familiarity with media, publishing, or subscription business models.
- Experience in a startup or lean team environment where you served as the primary Salesforce resource.
- Additional certifications (Sales Cloud Consultant, Service Cloud Consultant, etc.) are a bonus.
