Software Engineer, Web Developer
Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Lead/Lead Software Engineer to shape Guardian’s most critical customer‑facing digital experiences. You will work with React, Next, and Node to build scalable, performant web applications in AWS and collaborate with engineers, product leaders, UI/UX, data, and other stakeholders.

- Be collaborative: work with product and design to deliver robust user experiences.
- Be precise: understand business goals behind each feature and design solutions that achieve them.
- Be awesome: launch products you can be proud of.
- 10+ years of experience delivering resilient, high‑performance, public‑facing web applications with measurable business impact.
- Highly proficient in JavaScript/Type Script (Node, React, Next, NestJS, Jest) and advanced architectural patterns.
- Extensive experience with API development (REST/Graph
QL) and third‑party integrations. - Experience with Redis, micro‑frontends, and micro‑services is desirable.
- Mastery of web fundamentals: vanilla JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and web core vitals performance management.
- Experience developing complex applications in an Agile environment with cross‑functional teams.
- Experience with modern web tooling, testing, CI/CD, and AWS.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of security best practices (e.g., OWASP).
- Excellent written and verbal communication and strong people skills.
- BA/BS degree in computer science or related field.
3 days a week at a Guardian office in New York, NY;
Bethlehem, PA; or Holmdel, NJ.
Salary Range: $ – $. Base pay will be determined based on education, experience, knowledge, and abilities. Additional annual incentive compensation may be available.
