Lead Java Trading System Engineer

LSEG Data & Analytics team is seeking a highly technical, hands‑on Java developer to maintain existing backend order management applications and contribute to building a next‑generation trading platform.

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of technologies and collaborate with others on design, development, and implementation.
• Produce expert code to advance tools and applications, delivering the right solutions.
• Manage own workload while promoting an inclusive and open culture.
• Design, develop, and optimise software solutions using modern technologies.
• Collaborate with product teams and architects to deliver scalable and reliable software.
• Ensure software solutions are robust, scalable, and meet design goals.
• Engage with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders to align on software design goals.
• Maintain alignment of solutions with LSEG’s technology and business objectives.
• Keep up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant technologies and industry trends.
• Communicate complex technical information clearly in an audience‑appropriate format.
• Continuously develop technical and industry expertise through certifications, professional qualifications, and networking events.

• Financial industry experience building buy‑side or sell‑side trading systems.
• Strong understanding of system architecture and design.
• Strong Java fundamentals (JVM, multithreading, collections, I/O, etc.).
• Experience with the Java technology stack, API development, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience writing clean code, unit tests, code‑reviewing, and refactoring.
• Knowledge of SOLID, DRY, Law of Demeter, and other engineering principles.
• Understanding of low‑latency development challenges and mitigation techniques.
• Experience with Git, Gradle, Maven, and other build tools.
• Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Experience with RDBMS such as Postgre
  
  SQL.
• Familiarity with Agile methodology.
• Over five years of software engineering experience as an individual contributor.

• Experience with TDD and CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with Spring, Spring Boot, Redis, and Apache Kafka.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Delivery of service excellence on time, on scope, and on budget.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, focused, and evolving group.
• Ability to work under fast‑paced conditions.
• Critical and creative thinker, problem‑solving oriented.

• BS/MS in computer science or equivalent software engineering qualification.

Senior Associate

Base salary: $113,900 – $189,900 (varies by location). Eligible for Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
