Software Engineer - Global Hedge Fund - Tier 1

We are a highly successful global trading firm operating at the highest level of technology - largely in part due to our unique and innovative culture that has lead the charge in making hedge fund technology agonostic across every sector.

The engineers here are, without exception, among the best you will have worked with. Not in a "strong team, great people" way. In a way you will notice on your first day and not stop noticing. The bar for what constitutes a good solution, a clean abstraction, a well-reasoned tradeoff - it is higher here than most places you have been, and it is enforced not by process but by the people themselves.

The work is hard. The systems are production-critical. The feedback on whether something works is fast, direct, and unambiguous. There is no layer of abstraction between the code you write and whether it matters.

The problems span distributed systems, high-performance infrastructure, internal tooling, and the interfaces that connect all of it. The specific team depends on fit. What does not vary is the expectation: you will own your work completely, you will understand it at every level, and you will be surrounded by people who hold themselves and you to the same standard.

There is no rigid scope. Engineers here take on what they are capable of handling, and that ceiling tends to be higher than people expect.

You have worked somewhere serious - a tier-one technology company, a demanding startup, a research environment where the output was held to a genuinely high standard - and you were one of the better engineers there. Or you are early in your career and the work you have produced already makes an argument that doesn t need much supporting.

You care about correctness the way some people care about aesthetics. You find poorly designed systems vaguely offensive. You would rather have a hard conversation early than discover later that something doesn t hold.

You are not motivated by titles or organizational visibility. You are motivated by the quality of the problem in front of you and the quality of the people next to you.

There are larger organizations. There are louder ones. There are ones with bigger engineering brands and more public profiles and more familiar names on the offer letter.

This firm has none of that on offer. What it has is a concentration of talent and a quality of problem that is genuinely rare - and a track record, known to the people who know it, that speaks for itself.
