Senior Vice President – Front Office Equities Engineering (Full‑stack)

Location:

Responsibilities
  • Architecture & Design Leadership:
    Lead the design, architecture and implementation of trading, sales, and operations workflows, ensuring alignment with business goals and engineering best practices.
  • Trade‑Flow Platform Development:
    Design and build scalable trade‑flow software capable of handling diverse client‑side and OMS‑side integration patterns and high‑throughput scenarios.
  • Cross‑functional

    Collaboration:

    Partner closely with Product, Trading, Operations and Engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.
  • Technology Innovation:
    Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, contributing to a modern, high‑performance technology stack.
  • AI‑Driven Automation:
    Drive automation initiatives, intelligent code refactoring and adoption of AI tooling to improve developer productivity and system efficiency.
  • Engineering Excellence:
    Deliver well‑designed, testable, secure, and performant code via hands‑on programming, rigorous code reviews and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Production Support:
    Provide second‑level production support, troubleshoot complex system issues and contribute to incident resolution and post‑mortem processes.
  • Mentorship & Technical Leadership:
    Mentor and coach junior and mid‑level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, technical growth and engineering craftsmanship.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Industry experience: 10+ years designing, building and delivering real‑time, scalable, and resilient software applications within Financial Services or similar high‑throughput domains.
  • Core back‑end proficiency:
    Deep expertise in Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data) focused on enterprise‑scale services.
  • Front‑end development:
    Proficiency in Angular, Type Script/JavaScript, HTML/CSS and jQuery with component‑based UI architecture.
  • Data & persistence:
    Strong command of relational and analytical databases (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server), data modelling, query optimisation, large‑scale data management.
  • Messaging & middleware:
    Hands‑on experience with Kafka, IBM MQ, FIX protocol and event‑driven, asynchronous system design.
  • Agile delivery:
    Solid understanding of Scrum and Agile methodologies; ability to deliver in fast‑paced, evolving environments.
  • Communication & leadership:
    Excellent written and verbal communication; articulate technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders and coordinate cross‑team initiatives.
  • Problem solving & innovation:
    Demonstrated ability to analyse complex, ambiguous problems and devise pragmatic, innovative solutions.
  • AI‑augmented development:
    Familiarity with AI coding and productivity tools (Git Hub Copilot, Cursor, etc.) and willingness to leverage AI workflows.
  • Preferred: T‑shaped engineer with deep expertise in one discipline (back‑end or front‑end) and broad familiarity across the stack.
