Allara is hiring a Mobile Engineer to build the native iOS and Android experiences that connect 60,000+ patients to expert, longitudinal care for hormonal, metabolic, and reproductive health. You'll own significant pieces of our mobile platform end‑to‑end, working across a shared architecture that spans both native codebases. This is a high‑ownership role where you'll partner closely with product, design, and backend engineers to ship features that directly shape the patient experience and care journey.
Location:
Hybrid (NYC). We value in‑person collaboration and aim for at least three days per week in our NYC office, with flexibility as needed.
- Design, build, and ship features across our native iOS and Android apps, contributing to a shared mobile architecture
- Bring deep expertise in your primary platform (iOS or Android) while actively growing into the other, raising the bar across both codebases
- Partner with product, design, and backend engineers to translate patient‑care goals into thoughtful, performant mobile experiences
- Drive architectural direction of our mobile platform, including patterns for shared logic, state management, networking, and offline behavior
- Champion mobile quality through code review, testing practices, performance profiling, and pragmatic technical decision‑making
- Help integrate AI and LLM‑powered features into the mobile experience, identifying opportunities to improve patient engagement and care delivery
- Own features end‑to‑end, from scoping through launch, instrumentation, and iteration based on real user data
- Stay close to the patient experience by collaborating with clinical and operations stakeholders to understand how the app fits into the broader care journey
- 4+ years of professional mobile engineering experience shipping production features in a native iOS or Android app
- Deep expertise in either Swift/Swift
UI (iOS) or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android), with a strong grasp of platform conventions, lifecycle, and tooling - Demonstrated willingness and desire to work across both platforms, contributing meaningfully to your non‑primary platform
