Job Overview

LPL Financial is seeking a VP, Principal Engineer / Tech Lead to design and deliver modern, cloud‑based data and application capabilities that transform enterprise compensation processing. In this role, you will provide hands‑on technical leadership across data pipelines, event‑driven workflows, and cloud architecture—ensuring scalability, resiliency, transparency, and automation.

You will partner closely with architects, product teams, compensation subject‑matter experts, and engineering teams to modernize end‑to‑end compensation systems using AWS‑native services and Python‑driven data pipelines.

Responsibilities Design and implement end‑to‑end cloud data pipelines supporting compensation ingestion, calculation, validation, and downstream distribution

Build and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using Python, AWS Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, and S3

Architect and develop event‑driven workflows leveraging AWS Event Bridge, SQS, and SNSImplement data quality, reconciliation, auditing, and monitoring capabilities to ensure accuracy and integrity of compensation data Partner with architects and product teams to modernize legacy compensation platforms into scalable, cloud‑native solutions

Work with relational databases (RDS/Postgres/SQL Server) for data modeling, transformation, and performance optimization

Apply CI/CD and Dev Ops best practices to automate build, test, and deployment processes

Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root‑cause resolution under tight timelines

Communicate technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders, compensation SMEs, and cross‑functional partners

Identify opportunities to improve transparency, scalability, and automation across compensation workflows

Requirements
10+ years of experience designing and delivering complex enterprise systems7+ years of hands‑on data engineering experience using Python and SQLStrong experience with AWS services including Glue, Lambda, Event Bridge, RDS, and S3

Proven ability to design scalable, event‑driven and cloud‑native architectures

Experience with CI/CD, Dev Ops practices, and modern software engineering standards

Core Competencies Cloud and data architecture leadership

Preferences

Experience with .NET, C#, JavaScript, Angular, or API development
