This 18–24 month rotational graduate and early careers programme is available in London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work across multiple technology teams — up to six — in their chosen office. The breadth of this graduate programme will help you build a strong foundation while gaining exposure to different technologies, development approaches, and areas of the business.
Graduates
Whether you’re in your final year or have recently graduated, this programme is designed for people who are excited to keep learning and build a strong foundation in technology. We take your interests into account, matching them with areas where you can make the greatest impact.
While a Computer Science degree is not a requirement, we are looking for candidates who have actively developed their technical and programming skills — through internships, hackathons, or personal projects. Applications are welcome from high-achieving STEM students at prestigious universities at all levels, including undergraduates.
The programme includes personalised mentoring, regular seminars with senior leaders and key members of staff, social events, and opportunities to get involved in the firm’s charitable activities.
If you’re already in the early stages of your career and want more breadth, faster growth, or hands‑on exposure to financial technology, this programme is for you. We take your interests and existing experience into account, matching them with areas where you can make the greatest impact.
We are looking for candidates who have actively developed their technical and programming skills — through existing roles and, side projects, or open‑source contributions. The rotational structure means you’re not boxed into one team; you’ll move across the stack and grow quickly in ways you wouldn’t in a single role.
Like our graduates, you’ll benefit from personalised mentoring, regular seminars with senior leaders, social events, and opportunities to get involved in the firm’s charitable activities.
The rotations you undertake as part of our graduate and early careers technology programme will be unique to you, shaped by your skills, interests, and development goals. The different technology teams available as part of the programme can be explored here.
Example ProjectsTo give you a sense of the kind of work our technologists do, example projects include:
- Benchmarking and onboarding a high‑performance distributed database
- Building developer tooling to improve safety in stream processing systems
- Writing data pipelines that feed into systematic trading models
- Creating a platform to provide insights into, and improve, trade optimisation and performance
- Redesigning the core library used by the Technology team’s CI/CD platform
These projects reflect the breadth of experience available to graduates and those in the early stages of their careers, offering hands‑on exposure to real business challenges, modern technologies, and impactful engineering work.
Progression at Marshall WaceThe rotational format of our graduate and early careers technology programme gives you the opportunity to explore different roles within the Technology team before deciding where you are best placed to grow and contribute. This may include rotations across both Software Engineering and Site Reliability Engineering teams. By the end of the programme, you will have the opportunity to move into the team that best aligns with your interests, strengths, and longer‑term career development goals.
For graduates and those in the early stages of their careers, progression after completing the programme is not rigidly defined. There is no fixed ladder to climb. Growth can take many forms – from taking on more complex projects, to mentoring colleagues or new joiners, to exploring opportunities for international experience. Your career progression and professional development will be shaped by your strengths, ambitions, and impact, in partnership with your manager.
