Lead Software Engineer

Overview

GraphQL Developer | Own Full-Stack Architecture in a High-Impact Consulting Environment. This role is hosted by Jobot.

Location:

Northern Virginia area. Salary range: $160,000 - $185,000 per year.

• Lead a remote-first team of software engineers, SDETs, and Dev Ops-oriented engineers in the delivery of complex software systems.
• Perform hands-on application programming with emphasis on backend and integration systems using GraphQL, Apollo, Node.js, Type Script, JavaScript, Python, RESTful APIs, and data pipelines.
• Architect, design, and build distributed systems and integrations using AWS components (e.g., EKS, Lambda, S3, MSK, Aurora).
• Design and implement GraphQL subgraphs and contribute to federated graph architecture and schema governance.
• Define and maintain architectural standards to ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable systems aligned with enterprise constraints.
• Oversee project execution across multiple complex initiatives, managing timelines, risks, dependencies, and delivery outcomes.
• Define and enforce engineering best practices around code quality, CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and cloud operations.
• Promote a Dev Ops and cloud-first mindset to leverage modern engineering practices and cloud-native capabilities.

• 2+ years of experience as a tech lead.
• 3+ years of experience as a senior software engineer.
• 7+ years of software development experience including 3+ years of Type Script and Node.js.
• 2+ years of experience working with GraphQL.
• Strong experience developing, deploying, and supporting systems in AWS.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Working knowledge of at least one frontend JavaScript framework (Angular, Ionic, React, or Vue).
• Experience building and improving CI/CD pipelines.
• Full stack development experience from front-end to persistence and full software lifecycle participation from requirements to post-implementation support.
• Linux command line proficiency.
