Software Engineering Manager

New York City, NY| Hybrid, Tue–Thu in Soho, on canal street

• Lead and develop a team of full‑stack Product Engineers
• Stay close to the codebase through code reviews, architecture, documentation, system design, and occasional hands‑on contribution
• Partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and Operations across discovery, planning, and execution
• Improve engineering systems, team velocity, delivery processes, and developer experience
• Recruit, interview, onboard, coach, and grow engineers during a period of rapid scale
• Build products across adaptive learning, AI feedback, career matching, ranking algorithms, and LLM‑driven internal tools

• 5+ years of professional level experience as a full‑stack software engineer, product engineer, or software/product‑focused engineer. Internships do not count toward this years of experience
• Bachelors degree in a Computer Science or Engineering discipline, Masters Degree preferred
• 2+ years of people management experience for EM level
• 5+ years of people management experience for Senior EM / Associate Director‑level profiles
• Experience managing teams of 5–10+ engineers
• Strong product engineering background with recent technical depth
• High‑growth startup experience strongly preferred
• Experience in EdTech, Health Tech, B2C, B2B2C, marketplace, healthcare, consumer, or mission‑driven product environments is desired
• Strong communication skills, leadership presence, and structured thinking
• Ability to connect engineering execution to business goals, customer outcomes, and student impact

This is not a hands‑off management role. The right person is a true product engineering leader who can lead people, stay technically credible, and help scale a mission‑driven engineering organization.
