Product Engineering at Wealthsimple drives the development of our core offerings across Investing, Banking, Growth, and AI Products. The team builds intuitive, high-impact features that help millions of clients achieve their financial goals, working closely with Product and Design to bring user‑centric ideas to life. As part of Wealthsimple’s broader engineering organization, Product Engineering operates in high‑autonomy teams with an agile, high‑iteration approach, rigorous automated testing, and frequent deployments to ship fast while maintaining quality.

• Take ownership of a domain and grow it. Our product is in a stage where the right senior engineer can have an outsized influence on what we build, how we build it, and where we go next. You'll own meaningful slices of the product end‑to‑end, partnering with product and design to ship features that real customers depend on.
• Work across the full stack on high‑impact features. Our team owns feature development from frontend to backend. You'll build Ruby services that handle core business logic and integrations, while also shipping React and React Native experiences that customers interact with daily. Whether you lean frontend or backend, you'll be expected to contribute meaningfully across the stack.
• Solve complex, high‑stakes problems. Your work will involve regulatory and compliance requirements, complex data structures, varied workflows, and different risk profiles depending on the use case. You'll design systems that handle this complexity reliably while keeping the client experience simple.
• Act as a technical leader within the domain. Influence architecture decisions, raise the bar on code quality and operational excellence, mentor teammates, and help define the technical strategy for the domain. As the team grows, you'll be one of the people others look to for context, judgment, and direction.
• Leverage AI‑centric workflows to ship faster and safer. We invest heavily in AI tooling for engineers, and we expect senior developers to push the frontier of how we use these tools to deliver production‑grade software. You'll experiment with new workflows, share what works, and help establish patterns that the rest of the team can build on.
• Drive process and engineering excellence. Senior engineers on our team don't just ship features, they identify what's slowing the team down and fix it. You'll help evolve how we plan, build, review, deploy, and operate, partnering with your engineering manager to make the team measurably better over time.
• Collaborate across the broader organization. Our domain sits at the intersection of several critical systems and teams. You'll work closely with engineering, product, and other cross‑functional teams to deliver a best‑in‑class experience for our customers.

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping production systems that real users or businesses depend on. You've operated as a senior contributor on a team and understand what it takes to deliver reliably in a complex domain.
• Comfort working across the stack: full‑stack, front‑end‑leaning or back‑end‑leaning experiences. Our frontend is React and React Native. And our primary backend stack is Ruby on Rails, and Kotlin or Java experience is a strong nice‑to‑have. If your background is in a different language, we’re still interested.
