The energy transition is the biggest infrastructure buildout in human history. Modo Energy is the data platform at the centre of it.
We build the benchmarking, forecasting, and valuation tools that the world's most serious energy investors, developers, and operators depend on to make decisions. If a battery gets financed, built, or traded anywhere in the world, there's a good chance Modo data was in the room.
Founded in 2019, we're 80+ people across London, New York, Sydney, and Madrid; $30M Series B, AI-native, and moving fast.
This is a rare chance to join a category-defining company at the moment it's scaling globally.
We're hiring a Market Analyst to join our Americas Forecasting team. You'll help build and deliver Modo Energy's power market forecasts - revenue projections across multiple geographies and asset classes that organizations across the industry use to finance, build, benchmark, and operate energy infrastructure.
This is a technical, product-focused role at the intersection of energy modelling, data science, and customer-facing delivery.
What You'll Do- Build and enhance our in-house suite of power market and dispatch models, directly expanding the depth and accuracy of Modo Energy's product offering
- Source, process, and interpret large, complex datasets used as inputs to our forecasting and optimisation models
- Perform rigorous quality assurance across published numbers and customer-facing deliverables
- Craft the narrative behind our forecasts – policy shifts, market design changes, and structural trends in power markets
- Work in a product-focused way to ensure forecasts and tools align closely with user needs
- Partner with our development team to integrate models and outputs into The Modo Energy Terminal
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field – mathematics, engineering, computer science, physics, economics, or similar
- 3–5 years of experience analyzing power markets and energy systems
- Proven experience producing high‑visibility, customer-facing analytical outputs
- Hands‑on experience modeling power systems and/or energy assets: power price forecasting, optimisation and dispatch models, or locational dynamics and real‑time operations
- Familiarity with US power markets, including renewable technologies, market design, and regulatory frameworks
- Proficiency in Python and the scientific Python stack (Num Py, Pandas, Sci Py, scikit‑learn)
- Experience with linear programming and optimisation frameworks
- Hands‑on experience with cloud environments (AWS or equivalent)
- A builder mentality – track record of using AI tools to optimise and improve analytical workflows
- Experience with energy storage or battery asset modelling
- Familiarity with FERC market structures, ISOs/RTOs, or capacity market design
- Experience integrating analytical models into customer‑facing data products
- Base salary range: $110,000–$170,000 per year, depending on experience
- 25 days annual leave, medical, dental and vision coverage, and 401(k) with optional employer matching
- Equity for every employee
