Senior Software Engineer

Overview

Next Gen Federal Systems is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle for the development of innovative software systems for use by Department of Defense (DoD) customers.

Selected candidates will be part of a distributed development team operating in a dynamic, agile, fast-paced environment, and will participate in all phases of the software engineering process including research, design, development, integration, deployment and testing. The selected candidate will support development and integration activities for curating synthetic data to be utilized in simulation applications, consisting of geospatial data in raster formats.

• Participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for DoD-focused software systems.
• Contribute to research, design, development, integration, deployment, and testing activities in an agile, distributed team environment.
• Support development and integration activities for curating synthetic geospatial raster data used in simulation applications.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of formal work-related software engineering experience
• Secret Security Clearance

• Experience with C++ and Python software development
• Experience with software architecture, design, implementation, testing, and integration
• Experience with object-oriented software design and development
• Experience with full life cycle software development
• Experience with Test-Driven Development methodologies and tools (e.g., JUnit, Pytest)
• Experience operating in a Dev Sec Ops  environment with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

• Experience operating with Agile development processes and tools (e.g., Scrum, JIRA)
• Experience with Linux operating systems
• Experience with manipulating large data sets with Num Py, Pandas, Rasterio, Sci Py
• Experience with performance testing, scalability mechanisms, and system tuning
• Strong written & verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentations
• Experience with geospatial data and raster formats, including GRIB, NetCDF, and Geotiff
• Experience working with weather-related systems and data
