Nuveen is seeking an experienced Lead Development Manager to join our CLO Portfolio Management Technology team. In this role, you will design, build, test, and support mission‑critical applications that directly serve portfolio managers, traders, and other investment professionals. You will bring deep technical expertise in Python‑based backend development, cloud‑native architecture, and CI/CD practices, combined with a strong understanding of CLO structures, bank loans, or broader fixed‑income securities.
This is a hands‑on engineering role with leadership responsibilities, requiring you to guide development best practices, engage directly with senior stakeholders, and translate complex financial workflows into scalable, production‑grade software.
- Software Design and Development:
Lead the design, development, and delivery of full‑stack applications, primarily backend Python services and RESTful APIs deployed as AWS Lambda functions, containerized workloads, or EC2‑hosted services. Work spans the full development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation through testing, deployment, and ongoing support, in alignment with SDLC standards. - CI/CD and Dev Ops Ownership:
Own and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Cloud Bees, or comparable tools, ensuring reliable delivery across environments. Enforce branching strategies, code review workflows, and release management practices using Git Lab and Git, and contribute to infrastructure management using Terraform. - Stakeholder Engagement and Requirements Translation:
Engage directly with senior investment professionals, clarify requirements, surface constraints, and communicate technical trade‑offs in business‑relevant language. Translate CLO portfolio management workflows, bank loan life cycles, and fixed‑income operational needs into well‑structured software components. - Technical Leadership and Code Quality:
Serve as a technical anchor, conducting code reviews, establishing development standards, and mentoring developers. Monitor delivered work to ensure it meets functional goals and quality benchmarks, and proactively identify and resolve issues. - Agile Participation:
Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives. Maintain a well‑prioritized product backlog, provide accurate effort estimates, and support on‑time, within‑budget delivery. - Documentation:
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation covering architecture decisions, API specifications, data models, and operational runbooks in accordance with SDLC and organizational standards. - AI‑Assisted Development:
Leverage AI‑assisted development tools such as Amazon Q, Git Hub Copilot, or Kiro to accelerate delivery and improve code quality, and encourage adoption of these tools across the team.
