Senior Manager, Mobile Engineering, Android (Enterprise Platforms Technology)

At Capital One, we are looking for an experienced leader to drive innovation across our Android mobile platforms. This role focuses on delivering high‑quality, engaging customer experiences while fostering a collaborative and inclusive engineering culture.

• Develop Android client code solutions that align with product strategy and adhere to established engineering best practices, design guidelines, and principles.
• Partner with Software Engineers, UX/UI, Quality Engineers, and Product Owners/Analysts to deliver high‑performing, customer‑focused experiences that are engaging, purposeful, and simple.
• Actively participate in all team Agile ceremonies, ensuring team commitments are delivered on time and with high quality.
• Advocate for the mobile platform through both internal and external developer communities.
• Continuously learn and apply technologies related to mobile development (Kotlin, Swift, third‑party libraries, etc.).
• Influence group discussions, incorporating feedback and communication from the broader team.
• Mentor junior to mid‑level team members.
• Engage with developers outside the sprint team across disciplines (Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.).
• Own and lead delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with senior engineers and architects.
• Share best practices and improve processes across sprint teams.
• Identify technical obstacles early and collaborate with the team to devise innovative solutions.
• Review pull requests and enforce adherence to Kotlin and other language idioms.
• Provide SME‑level leadership while managing a team of mobile developers.

• Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 6 years of professional software engineering experience (internship experience does not apply).
• Minimum 4 years of people‑management experience.
• Minimum 4 years of experience building Android applications.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with Kotlin.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree.
• 7+ years of people‑management experience.
• 7+ years of experience building Android applications.
• 4+ years of experience with Kotlin.
• 4+ years of experience in open‑source frameworks.
• 2+ years of experience with Agile practices.
• Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity, utilizing capabilities beyond basic code completion.
