Software Development Engineer, Devices & Services Security

The Amazon Specialized Business Security (SBS) Core Proactive Security team designs and engineers security solutions to protect high‑profile devices and consumer experiences including the best‑selling Kindle family of products, Amazon Photos, and devices such as Amazon Echo, Fire tablets, Fire TV, Echo Show, and Echo Spot. We build software tooling to secure our customer experiences and data.

• Gather and analyze business and functional requirements, and translate business requirements into technical design specifications.
• Write high‑quality, efficient, testable code and recommend improvements in development, maintenance, and system standards, and contribute to software documentation.
• Design, develop and deploy medium to large software solutions.
• Be responsible for technical problem solving, meeting product objectives, and developing best practices.
• Serve as an essential technical resource in the full development cycle.
• Analyze security data using analytics.
• Mentor junior team members technically.
• Work in an agile development environment.

The SBS Proactive Security team focuses on preventing security vulnerabilities from occurring in the first place, making security proactive rather than reactive. We leverage AI tools to learn and identify vulnerabilities and risks at various granularities and guide businesses with tools and insights to prevent them.

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 3+ years of non‑internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• 3+ years of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
