Software Engineer II

In this role you will be at the center of the Compass platform, providing our agents the tools they need to manage and engage with millions of residential real estate clients.

• Work in a startup-like environment building agile products and services
• Design and build distributed, event-driven microservices
• Independently define, decompose, and lead delivery of complex projects
• Perform code reviews, design reviews, and write high-quality tests
• Become the subject matter expert for one or more services in your domain
• Create clear and concise documentation (diagrams, service descriptions, decisions, runbooks)
• Own and operationally improve services in your domain throughout their lifecycle
• Identify and remove bottlenecks to address inefficiencies in the developer experience

• BS in CS or equivalent practical experience
• 2+ years of software engineering experience with languages such as Java or Golang
• Experience with Kafka and Ruby on Rails is a plus
• Experience designing and building cloud-based services
• Hands‑on experience with cloud-based services (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization, microservices architecture, and continuous integration and delivery
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The base pay range for this position is $126,990-$141,100; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
