Senior Back End Software Engineer

Location: New York City (Hybrid – 3 days per week)

As a Back End Software Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing and building scalable backend services that power an AI‑driven platform. You’ll work closely with Product, Customer Success and fellow Engineers to deliver reliable, secure and high‑performing software.

This role suits someone who enjoys building robust distributed systems, working with modern backend technologies, and contributing across the full software development lifecycle.

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Python.
• Build and optimise APIs that support both internal applications and external integrations.
• Design and maintain databases with a focus on performance, reliability and security.
• Develop integrations with third‑party platforms and services.
• Implement secure authentication, encryption and data protection practices.
• Work closely with Front End Engineers to deliver seamless product experiences.
• Optimise system performance and scalability.
• Troubleshoot production issues and resolve defects.
• Write clear technical documentation and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Stay up to date with emerging backend technologies, AI developments and software engineering trends.

• Strong commercial experience with Python.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Hands‑on experience with MongoDB and Redis.
• Exposure to distributed systems and concurrent programming.
• Interest or experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) or AI‑powered applications.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within cross‑functional teams.
• 3–7 years of commercial software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
