Forward Deployed Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands‑on Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with enterprise customers, leading technical deployments from scoping through production. This is a customer‑facing technical role focused on implementing robust data pipelines and analytics solutions that drive measurable business impact. You will collaborate closely with customer stakeholders (including marketing leaders) to scope pilots, deliver demos, and ensure successful, scalable implementations.

Ideal Background: Candidates who have successfully built and owned production data pipelines for external clients, combining technical depth with the ability to engage directly with customer leadership.

• 3-5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related technical role with strong customer‑facing deployment experience.
• Proven track record owning and delivering data pipelines for external clients (e.g., as a data engineer, analytics engineer, or technical solutions architect with deep implementation focus).
• Strong proficiency in SQL and dbt (or SQLMesh); experience configuring and debugging orchestration tools such as Dagster, Airflow, Prefect, or equivalents.
• Experience working in startup or growth‑stage environments with exposure to multiple customers.
• Comfort navigating external customer bureaucracies and driving projects as a vendor/consultant.
• Technical degree (or equivalent experience); preference for candidates from strong academic programs.

• Pure application/full‑stack software engineers without significant data modeling or pipeline ownership.
• Candidates whose experience is limited to internal stakeholders or pre‑sales/technical roles without writing production transformation code.
• Senior leadership or management‑track profiles (Director+).
• Pure Big Tech backgrounds lacking startup/growth‑stage or multi‑customer exposure.
• Founders or broad technical generalists without verifiable ownership of specific data pipelines.

Lead end‑to‑end deployment projects with external enterprise customers, translating business needs into production data pipelines and analytics infrastructure.

Work hands‑on with complex, messy datasets from multiple sources (e.g., CRM platforms, web/app events, and production systems).

Design, build, and optimize data transformations and pipelines using SQL, dbt (or similar), and orchestration tools.

Partner with customer teams to scope technical pilots, deliver demonstrations, and navigate organizational stakeholders and processes.

Ensure high‑quality, maintainable code and solutions that support scalability and business logic requirements.
