Full Stack Engineer – Willis Re
Willis Re is building its global technology estate from the ground up, unencumbered by legacy. We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to build the products that power our reinsurance broking, analytics, and client‑facing platforms. This is a hands‑on engineering role for someone who enjoys working across the whole stack and is equally comfortable building conventional services and AI‑enabled features.
Responsibilities- Design, build, and ship end‑to‑end features from APIs and services to responsive user interfaces.
- Develop and run cloud‑native applications on Microsoft Azure using PaaS, containers, and infrastructure‑as‑code.
- Consume data through APIs to surface it in performant ways for brokers and analysts.
- Build AI‑enabled product features using retrieval‑augmented generation, tool and API integration, evaluation, and human‑in‑the‑loop design.
- Use and promote AI‑assistant engineering tools such as Claude Code or Claude Cowork.
- Integrate with external market platforms, carrier‑ and client‑systems, and SaaS products via API‑first and event‑driven patterns.
- Apply test‑driven development and secure‑coding practices, including authentication, authorisation (EntraID, OAuth
2.0), data protection, and privacy. - Collaborate on architectural standards, participate in design discussions, review code, and mentor teammates in a green‑field environment.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, shipping and maintaining production systems end‑to‑end.
- Experience in insurance, reinsurance, or financial services is desirable.
- Strong backend skills in C#/.NET or Python, API design, and SQL.
- Proficiency with modern front‑end frameworks (React or Angular) and Type Script.
- Hands‑on experience with Azure, CI/CD (Azure Dev Ops or Git Hub Actions ), and Terraform.
- Knowledge of microservices, event‑driven, and API‑led design; security fundamentals (OAuth
2.0, OIDC, EntraID, RBAC). - Strong SQL performance awareness and relational database experience.
- Experience or strong interest in LLM‑based AI solutions, agentic patterns, prompt design, and evaluation.
- Fluency in test‑driven development, automated testing, clean design, and judgement about keeping things simple.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining technical trade‑offs to product stakeholders and delivery partners.
$180,000–$% bonus
